Description
Misty Cove is the relatively young wine company of winemaker Andrew Bailey and his Dutch wife Marieke. The grapes come from the best vineyards of Marlborough and Central Otago, which Andrew partly owns. Misty Cove makes pure and especially characteristic wines from these that have already distinguished themselves at a large number of competitions. The company has a great affinity with sustainability. Because Andrew is regularly in our country with his Dutch wife, his wines have now become very well-known in restaurants and wine shops such as Grandcruwijnen.
A beauty of a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand. This Landmark Marlborough Sauvy is actually a Sur Lie made wine where a finished wine remains on the lees during fermentation to extract all those delicious complex flavours. The colour is sparkling and light. The scent is expressive with lime peel, lemon juice, fresh herbs, but also exotic fruits such as pineapple and passion fruit. For a Sauvignon it is quite powerful and concentrated. Distinctive. The fine, soft acids provide an optimal balance. The length is endless. Sauvignon is really a terrace and aperitif wine. However, this Landmark from Misty Cove has quite a bit of power and is therefore also delicious with all kinds of dishes: shrimp, mussels, fish, asparagus, chicken, salads and lighter cheeses.
95 Points (5 Stars)
"Classically styled and expressed showing mango, citrus peel, feijoa and kiwifruit characters on the nose, followed by a powerfully flavorsome palate offering terrific fruit intensity and vibrancy. Mouth-watering and highly enjoyable"

91/100

"Initial impression verges on luscious, but the fine, lively acidity kicks in and balances subtle sweetness and gives the wine a crisp, dry finish. A tangy sauvignon with pleasing purity and an ethereal texture."

"Pristine and gorgeously fragrant, the wine shows passionfruit, kiwifruit, nectarine and kaffir lime characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is intensely flavoured and persistent. Instantly appealing and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2022."

90 Points (4 Stars)
"Soft, rather mellow and moderately concentrated sauvignon blanc with tropical fruit, capsicum, guava and pineapple flavours supported by gently tangy acidity."

That's why we say: 'Wine for good times,' because we believe that Misty Cove Wines is more than just a product – it’s a story. And the best place to tell great stories is around great wine. Thankfully, we are bloody phenomenal at giving you both."
