2022 Domaines Ott Château de Selle Coeur de Grain Rosé

Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Named the best producer of rosé in the world by the famous magazine "Decanter". The domain covers 53ha of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The domain is ideally located on a slate terrace that plunges down to the Mediterranean near Brégançon. The domain dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936.

Château de Selle has 140 hectares of land, of which 64 hectares are planted with vines. The substrate of the vineyards is machined before planting, so that stones, clay and lime are mixed in the right amount. The harvest is picked by hand. A strict selection of the grapes takes place both during harvesting and afterwards. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, after which maturation takes place in oak barrels for 6 – 9 months. The wine is bottled in the spring. People work here without using poison or artificial fertilizers.

The Chateau de Selle is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides complexity, elegance and power, the Grenache adds warmth to the wine, the Cinsault provides finesse and body and the Syrah rounds off the wine and gives color. This combination makes a taste that brings together the finesse of the land, round, fruity and fresh.

In the glass, this rosé has a beautiful pale pink color with golden reflections. In the nose we smell beautiful notes of peach, lime and hints of cinnamon and vanilla. In the mouth there is a very good balance between freshness and liveliness. Can be drunk now, but can also be stored for five years without any problems, which makes the Ott wines so unique. Incredibly refined.
