History and location of Domaine Evenstad
Domaine Evenstad is a Burgundian winery that emerged from the vision of the American winemaking family Evenstad, known for the legendary Domaine Serene in Oregon. In their search for European expression and terroir, they settled in the Côte de Nuits, one of the most prestigious wine regions of Burgundy. The vineyards of Domaine Evenstad benefit from centuries-old winemaking traditions, favorable climatic conditions and chalky soils that are ideal for the production of refined Pinot Noir wines.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation
The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The terroir is diverse, with gravelly alluvial soils in the north and deep clay-limestone soils in the south, where Longecourts is located. The vineyards are oriented towards the east at an altitude of 240 metres, which ensures excellent sun exposure and a slow, even ripening of the grapes.
Grapes, harvest and vinification
The Longecourts 2022 is made from 100% Pinot Noir, from vines planted in 1970 and 1990. The harvest took place on September 7, 2022. After vinification, the wine was aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 30% of which were new wood. The wine was bottled on February 29, 2024. A total of 2,724 bottles were produced, from a plot of just 0.73 hectares.
Color, odor and flavor profile
This wine shows a ruby red colour with a bright shine. On the nose it opens with intense aromas of red berries and wild cherries, followed by earthy notes and hints of leather. The taste is precise and refined, with supple tannins and a balanced structure. The finish is long and elegant, with a pleasant freshness that enlivens the whole.

Het wijnhuis Evenstad Estates, opgericht in 1989 door Ken en Grace Evenstad in Oregon, heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een invloedrijke speler in zowel de Amerikaanse als de Franse wijnwereld. Hun passie voor Pinot Noir en Chardonnay leidde tot de oprichting van Domaine Serene in de Dundee Hills van Oregon, waar ze wijnen van wereldklasse produceren. In 2015 breidde Evenstad Estates hun horizon uit naar Frankrijk met de aankoop van Château de la Crée in Santenay, gelegen in de Côte de Beaune.
