2022 Domaine des Perdrix Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Perdrix Premier Cru

Aux Perdrix is a premier cru vineyard in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The parcel, approximately 3.5 hectares in size, is almost entirely owned by one producer: Domaine des Perdrix. The vines were planted between 1922 and 1980. They are located on a gentle slope with a south-easterly exposure south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted. They are then cold macerated for 4 to 6 days to extract the phenolic compounds. The grapes are then destemmed and macerated again for 15 days. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously, after which the press and run-off wines are separated and matured separately. The wine is matured in traditional Burgundian 228-litre barrels for 15 to 18 months, 40% of which are new. The Perdrix Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Perdrix Premier Cru has an elegant taste with good acidity and freshness, soft red fruit, soft tannins, cream and subtlety. The nose of the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Aux Perdrix' is an excellent, beautiful intense pinot-noir, typified, soft fruit, cherries, strawberries, beautiful broad and subtle, vanilla, smoky.

If we look at the red wines from Burgundy, we must conclude that the beautiful examples come from the northern part of the Côte d'Or, the Côte de Nuits. Here are the wine villages where the Pinot Noir ripens best, where the red Burgundies have the most finesse, combined with power and complexity. The center of the region is the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Around Nuits-Saint-Georges, and especially on the west side, are the vineyards where great Burgundies come from. These beautiful vineyards all have their own name and the right to call themselves 'Premier Cru'. One of these beautiful Premiers Crus is Aux Perdrix, named after the partridges that often walk around here. The Domaine des Perdrix takes its name from this vineyard, of which it also owns 99%, a 'quasi-monopole', as the label states. It produces beautiful, complex wines, even on the powerful side for Nuits-Saint-Georges. Fantastic.
