Description
Cloudy Bay is New Zealand's wine reference and the most internationally renowned brand. It is one of the five first wineries from Marlborough, New Zealand's best wine region (at the northernmost tip of the South Island). A highly sought-after range of wines, each offering a different experience. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is the international reference in its category. Innovation, meticulous attention to detail and regional characteristics are the founding principles of Cloudy Bay.
The Cloudy Bay Chardonnay has a clear and refined nose. The aromas do not suggest how deep and complex the taste is. The scent is immediately fresh and seductive, with candied lemon, citrus blossom and subtle herbs. The wine has a round mouthfeel, with mild aromas of citrus and stone fruits in layers of cream and hazelnut. The wine has good aging potential.
FACT: The wine is stored in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you pick up the wine you will often receive a nice discount. You will see your discount immediately when you choose 'Collect' on the checkout page. We are located in Dordrecht with plenty of parking. Click here for our address.

The 2016 Chardonnay spent 12 months in 15% new French oak. It features subtle hints of toasted hazelnut and butter, along with notes of white peaches and citrus. This medium-bodied wine is silky in texture, with a long, grapefruit-tinged finish. It shouldn't be overlooked in the Cloudy Bay lineup.
The team at Cloudy Bay has streamlined the lineup to just three varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. About 70% of the overall production is Sauvignon Blanc, with 10% each devoted to sparkling wine, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Pelorus sparkling wines seem reinvigorated, simultaneously richer, nuttier and fresher, while the Chardonnay continues to be an under-the-radar success story. I often prefer it to the Sauvignon Blanc. In 2014, the company purchased a vineyard in Northburn, Central Otago, which will eventually form the core of its Te Wahi Pinot Noir. That project is still a work in progress, and while I expect that wine will eventually surpass the Pinot Noir made in Marlborough, for the moment I prefer the Marlborough bottling, which shows more detail and elegance. Stay tuned.

A medium-bodied white with sliced poached apples, pears and just a hint of cream and pie crust. It’s crisp with some phenolic tension and a focused finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
