Château Potensac is located on the grounds of the Haut-Médoc in the Médoc. Although there are numerous Médoc wines of a higher quality than the Haiut-Médoc's, Potensac is a striking example of this. This wine is made by Michel Delon from Leoville las Cases in St. Julien. Due to the various extensions, the spireless church in the hamlet of Potensac is part of the domain.
The estate has been in the hands of the same family since time immemorial and has always been handed down by women. The current owner, Jean-Hubert Delon, inherited the estate from his paternal grandmother, Georgette Liquard. Although it is close to the river, Potensac is located on a high piece of land in Northern Medoc. Due to this position, the site has been populated since ancient times. The name "Medoc" in fact comes from "medio aquae" which means "in the middle of the waters". The vineyards are planted on the best quality soils in the Ordonnac district, the vineyards now extend over 60 hectares on a terroir where the typical characteristics of each grape variety express themselves very clearly and give the wine excellent maturing potential.
Always a highly recommended wine given the excellent price/quality is Chateau Potensac. This family estate owned by the Delon family (Ch. Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, Ch.Nénin). The estates are managed with the same care and the same expertise and team. The 61 hectare vineyard is located at one of the highest points of the Northern Médoc with historic plots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc dating from the 1920s and 1930s.

Château Potensac is located on the ground of the Haut-Médoc in the Médoc. Although there are numerous Médoc wines with a higher quality than the Haiut-Médocs, Potensac is a striking example of this. This wine is therefore made by Michel Delon of Leoville las Cases in St. Julien. Due to the various extensions, the pointed church in the hamlet of Potensac belongs to the domain. The Chappele de Potensac is the 2nd wine of this Chateau.
Owner Jean-Hubert Delon inherited Chateau Potensac from his grandmother Georgette Liquard and, in addition to Château Leoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien and Château Nénin in Pomerol, acquired a beautiful domain.
Château Potensac was the only AC Médoc to have the status of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel until this classification was abolished in 2007. The domain is located in the north of the Médoc on a high point on a limestone soil covered with siliceous clay, similar to that of Saint-Estephe. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc canes grow up to 80 years old in this special terroir and still produce perfectly ripe and healthy grapes. Château Potensac is a powerful, rich wine and is considered by many to be a classic example of a Médoc.
