Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a magnificent château with 78 hectares of vineyards and a 2ème Grand Cru Classé status. The soil is poor, with a clay subsoil containing a lot of gravel. This classic-looking château, built in 1840, was acquired by Madame May-Eliane de Lencquesaing in 1978, and in 2007, the cru came into the hands of the Rouzaud family. They also own the Roederer Champagne house. Pichon Comtesse wines are consistently opulent and, in recent years, have increasingly incorporated Cabernet Sauvignon into the blend, giving them additional aging potential.

It is one of the most famous vineyards in Pauillac, a subregion within Bordeaux known for its rich, full-bodied wines. The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand and then aged in French oak barrels. The wine has a deep, dark red color and a complex aroma with notes of cassis, blueberry, chocolate, and spice. The palate is full and rich, with a good balance of tannins, acidity, and fruit. Château Pichon-Longueville - Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac is often considered one of the finest wines from Pauillac and is frequently praised for its aging potential.

The Pichon Comtesse 2022 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. On the nose, this Pichon Comtesse suggests a complexity and depth rarely seen. Raspberry and blackcurrant notes mingle with aromas of red roses, followed by subtle and elegant hints of rosewood. The palate displays incredible volume. This ethereal Pichon Comtesse 2022 expresses delicious and crisp notes of Morello cherry and blackcurrant. The overall impression is one of a lively, rich, and silky wine with a flavorful finish, supported by seemingly endless fine-grained tannins. Pichon Comtesse invites tasters on a dreamlike journey.

The winter was relatively dry and mild, especially in the later months, with above-average temperatures in February and March. The buds opened quite early, in early April. Meanwhile, winegrowers endured several consecutive nights of severe frost. Fortunately, the nearby Gironde estuary helped protect our vineyard. A fairly dry, warm spring followed, favorable for flowering in late May under excellent conditions. June was very unsettled and wet. Heavy hailstorms hit many vineyards in the Médoc, although the vines at Pichon Comtesse were miraculously spared! From early July, a prolonged heatwave and drought set in. Veraison (color change) began on July 30th and lasted until August 9th. In mid-August, two storms brought 25 mm of rain, which, while not significant, was nevertheless beneficial for ripening. The harvest began on September 8th under dry conditions, with perfectly ripe grapes being picked. The only heavy rainfall occurred on September 26th – the penultimate day of the harvest! During the exceptionally hot and dry summer, the storms in June and mid-August were a lifesaver, providing welcome relief for the vineyards
