Description
The 2022 vintage in Valdeorras DO was characterized by a very dry winter and spring, with exceptionally high temperatures, which slowed down the vine's growth cycle. The result was good canopy density, healthy vines and the absence of fungal diseases, something that allowed them to operate almost without intervention. The harvest gave exceptional concentration and quality, but with a low yield. The grapes ripened perfectly, achieving a high aromatic level and a much more integrated and balanced acidity than previous vintages.
The Godello is a grape that is very popular and that does not surprise us as we have been a big fan of Godello wines for years. Beautiful fruit with beautiful frusse acids and very lively and elegant, which characterizes beautiful Godello grapes. Often less dusty than many chardonnays.
The Godello grapes are perfectly adapted to dry soils, with high drainage, which contributes to optimal yield and ripening. The harvest is done by hand. The soil type varies from gray slate, through granite-rich soils, which are richer in sand, to pebble soils for terrace planting, and the altitude varies from 300 to 700 meters. The grapes come from the municipality of A Rúa, Larouco, O Bolo and Vilamartín. After fermentation, sur-lie maturation takes place on the fine lees for 4 months. Only the heart of the must is used in the fermentation in order to extract the greatest amount of aromas and nuances from the grape.
The Casa Rojo The Orange Republic Godello has a clear and straw yellow color, with olive hints. The nose is elegant, with great intensity, with aromas of different varieties such as green apple, apricot and quince. We also find very tasty balsamic aromas such as mint, spearmint and eucalyptus, which provide freshness. In the mouth it has high persistence, freshness and a long aftertaste. A wonderfully elegant white wine with a perfect balance between the fruit, acids and the (controlled) alcohol.

ABOUT CASA ROJO
THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the luck and luxury to be able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have been added, such as Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear. “A wine must be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate.”
Casa Rojo has been active since 2010, so it is a fairly young company, but Casa Rojo wines are now available in more than 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc and demand exceeds supply. Not surprising because the quality of wines, the stories behind the wine and the selection are downright unique.

91 punten Gilbert & Gaillard voor jaargang 2015: “A wine with a beautifull greenish golden color. On the nose, it is mineral with hints of white pulp fruits, smooth tropical nuances, like litchi and lemon skin. On the palate, a balance of acidity, fruit and minerality. It is a tasty, elegant and fresh, a wine of great personality, a gastronomic experience.”
