Sauvignon Blanc from Rueda is Hot and for good reason. The altitude (700-900 meters) ensures good temperature differences between day and night and the poor chalky sandy soils force deep roots and give the Sauvignon Blanc its own (Rueda) character, so not an imitation Loire or New Zealand fruit bomb but its own identity. The Casa Rojo La Gabacha is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from a 10 hectare vineyard planted in 1985 by Aníbal Asensio at an altitude of 800 meters in the Duero basin, between the villages of Valdestillas and Serrada. Vintage 2022 was a great vintage in the DO RUEDA. Winter was cold and rainy, while spring was warm, giving way to a hot and dry summer. The grape has matured perfectly and has achieved a perfect balance between acidity and fruit and the civilized alcohol level. The fermentation of the Sauvignon grapes takes place at a low temperature to preserve all the aromas of the variety. The wine is then given time and aged for 5-6 months on its lees (sur lie).

In the glass, the Casa Rojo La Gabacha is a light straw yellow color with golden hues. In the nose we find a good intensity of aroma in which tropical notes such as mango and pineapple initially appear, accompanied by light hints of citrus and herbaceous details. In the mouth the wine is dry, with good acidity that brings freshness, elegance and balance. An ideal wine to serve as an aperitif and always combines excellently with seafood.

ABOUT CASA ROJO

THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the luck and luxury to be able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have been added, such as Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear. “A wine must be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate.”

Casa Rojo has been active since 2010, so it is a fairly young company, but Casa Rojo wines are now available in more than 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc and demand exceeds supply. Not surprising because the quality of wines, the stories behind the wine and the selection are downright unique.
