2022 Marques de Murrieta Primer Rosado

The Primer (= scoop) has recently returned to the market. The Primer Rosé is produced exclusively from the Rioja grape Mazuelo (the Rioja name for Cariñena). The wine is so named because this is a first for an absolute top Rioja rosé made from Mazuelo. The grapes come exclusively from the vineyards of Marques de Murrieta (Finca Ygay). Immediately upon receipt in the cellar, the grapes are covered and grape juice is separated from the skins in order to obtain the purest grape juice. The free-flow juice ferments for a period of at least 40 days on its own yeast (sur lie) in stainless steel temperature controlled (10º C). Murrieta's Primer Rose was only bottled in April 2022 and was only released during mid-May 2023 and only a very limited number of bottles are always made because this rose is the free-flow juice of the Castillo de Yga Red.

This beautiful top rosé is not just a rosé, but is an incredibly beautiful wine and begs for food such as grilled scallops, shrimps, creamy rice with squid or a beautiful salad with avocado. The wine has a very light pink color. In the nose notes of peach and roses. In the mouth the wine is fresh, pure and lively and very elegant and a nice minerality.
