Description
The Jules Taylor Pinot is a 'dangerously' tasty Pinot Noir from Marlborough with lots of fruit on the nose. Pinot Noir is Marlborough's rising star and the grape variety that most expresses the differences from season to season. Grown on the southern hills in clay soils, this Pinot is well rounded with juicy flavors of cherry and black plum. The wild fermentation together with a long maturation on lees have added complexity and texture to the dark fruits and the finish is dry with a nice touch of dark chocolate and spices.

The clean and curvaceous 2021 Chardonnay (Marlborough) reflects the season's low yields in the concentrated juice. The acidity wraps a ribbon around its core, providing lipsmacking tension and length. There are zesty lemon and lime flavors alongside nectarine and an appetizing floral character, which may be due to the fermentation taking place naturally. The use of oak is subtle, allowing the purity of fruit to shine. Excellent value for money.

Founded, owned and operated in Marlborough by Jules and George, Jules Taylor Wines is the successful result of big dreams, hard work and a healthy dose of not taking ourselves too seriously. Born in Marlborough in the year the first vines were planted, Jules literally grew up with Sauvignon Blanc. Local maid Jules used her postgraduate diploma in viticulture and oenology for several years as a winemaker for one of Marlborough's largest wineries, and then as a Consultant Winemaker for the region's most prestigious brand.
In 2001, Jules Taylor Wines was created as a small side hustle with only 200 boxes. Five years, two children, and many, many late nights later, George and Jules made the nerve-wracking decision to risk it all, quit their day jobs, and give their dream a chance. Today, Jules makes her harvest decisions in the vineyard, purely on taste rather than through laboratory analyses. Regardless of the cost, Jules will only release a wine if she is completely satisfied that it has met her standards. Jules left her corporate winemaking career to give her the freedom to make wines the way she thinks they should be made. She only makes one batch of each wine per harvest. So enjoy it while you can. When it's gone, it's really gone.
