Description
Château Plince has a long history dating back to the 19th century. The estate has been in the same family for generations, contributing to the consistency and dedication of its wine production. Located near other renowned Pomerol estates, such as Château Nenin and Château La Pointe, the château benefits from the region's exceptional terroir. Château Plince, Pomerol, is located east of Libourne. Château Plince's vineyards cover approximately 8.5 hectares and are situated on Pomerol's characteristic clay and gravel soils, ideal for cultivating Merlot. These soils provide good drainage and promote deep root development, essential for producing concentrated and rich wines. The average age of the vines is around 30 years, contributing to the complexity of the wines.
Château Plince is known for its careful and traditional approach to winemaking. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine then matures for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new, giving the wine structure and depth without overpowering the fruity characteristics. The excellent value is certainly not unimportant, as for around €50 you can get an excellent Pomerol that can often age easily for 15-20 years.
The Château Plince Pomerol naturally features Merlot as its primary grape, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the glass, the wine has an intense and fresh red color. The nose is harmonious with a beautifully fused bouquet, aromas of fruit liqueur, lovely oak notes, undergrowth (mushroom), forest aromas, and vanilla. The palate is soft, rounded, and long.
FACT: The wine is stored in our climate-controlled Wine Warehouse, and if you pick it up, you'll often receive a nice discount . Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Plince rolls out of the glass wearing a lot of woody/cedar scents, before offering up notes of baked plums, blackberry pie and stewed black cherries with wafts of chargrill and tilled soil in the background. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has appealing freshness and nice, ripe grape tannins with a chewy component from the obvious wood, finishing savory.

Blueberries and cocoa powder, as well as lavender and blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied with tight, focused tannins that are lean and racy, in a clear way. Just a hint of tar and ash at the end. Chewy and fine. Best after 2027.

The 2019 Plince is clean and pure on the nose with perfumed violets and incense infusing the black cherries and bilberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, a fine thread of acidity, moderate depth and a touch of balsamic enlivening the finish. Delightful.
