Description

The 2021 Château Margaux, matured in 100% new oak as usual, is clean and refined on the nose – much more restrained than the more exuberant Pavillon Rouge – and unfolds like a seductress in the glass. Intense dark cherries, hints of blueberry and the signature scent of crushed violets then emerge, all beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky sheen that subtly belies the underlying structure. Surprisingly opulent given the growing season, with impressive concentration and no harsh edges. It is a very Margaux-esque Château Margaux – in the sense that this wine could not possibly come from any other appellation.

This is a 1.5 liter magnum.

Château Margaux is one of the most famous wineries in the world. It is located in Bordeaux near the town of Margaux. Château Margaux is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé according to the Bordeaux wine classification system of 1855. The estate comprises 82 hectares for red wine and 12 hectares for white wine. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc are grown on these 94 hectares. For the white wine, 12 hectares of Sauvignon blanc have been planted. The second wine of the winery is called Pavillon rouge. The white wine "Pavillon Blanc" is considered the best white wine of the Médoc. Since 2009, Château Margaux also produces a third wine called "Margaux du Château Margaux". This third wine has been made since 1997, but it was always sold in bulk to other wine producers until 2009. As one of the largest and most well-known producers in the Margaux, Chateau Margaux produces an average of 25,000 cases of their Grand vin.
