Château de Beaucastel is nestled in a magical setting dotted with vineyards, ancient olive trees, and truffle oaks. Beaucastel is Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most famous wine. Here, nature is found in its purest form, where its power is at its most at peace. The characteristic rolled stones are the secret of its vineyards, where gnarled vines grow in the traditional "gobelet" shape. On this ancient soil, we find the 13 grape varieties authorized in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. All 13 of these grape varieties form the basis of Château de Beaucastel's legendary blends, where they are grown biodynamically. This allows them to be one of the last to utilize the richness and complexity that this blend offers.

Beaucastel's history begins in the early 17th century. The Perrins family arrived in the early 20th century. Five generations later, we now have a global company specializing in quality wines, ranging from very affordable to the absolute top. All the vision, technique, and vineyard management that earned Beaucastel its coveted global top position are applied to the vineyards and wines from other appellations, such as Ventoux, Luberon, Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas, Vinsobres, Rasteau, and Vacqueyras. While retaining its own distinct character, the wines differ significantly and demonstrate the respectful approach.

Coudoulet wines can reach unprecedented heights in exceptional vintages and are often preferred over the much more expensive Beaucastels. This is especially true at an early stage, in anticipation of the development of the Beaucastel wines, which usually reap their full and convincing rewards with later age. Here we get to the heart of the matter. The material with the greatest long-term potential and the most finesse is destined for Beaucastel. With Coudoulet, we experience how this early pleasure is irresistibly expressed in the young wine.

The red Coudoulet is a blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault. The grapes are hand-harvested, and selection takes place in the vineyard and on the selection tables. The final grapes are first briefly heated to 30°C and then cooled back down to 20°C. This organic method removes any unwanted yeasts. The grapes are vinified individually and then blended, and the blend is aged for 6-8 months in large oak barrels. The Beaucastel Coudoulet Rouge offers a surprisingly ripe, rounded style with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and peppery spice. The wine is clear and lively. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is pleasantly creamy and has hints of thyme. A beautiful finish with soft tannins.
