2021 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage Jacques Perrin BIO

Château de Beaucastel is located in a magical setting dotted with vineyards, centuries-old olive trees and truffle oaks. Beaucastel, that is the most famous wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Here you will find nature in its purest form and its power comes to rest. The typical rolled boulders are the secret of the vineyards in which gnarled vines grow in traditional 'gobelet' shapes. On this ancient soil we find the 13 grape varieties that are permitted in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. All these 13 grape varieties form the basis of the mythical blends of Château de Beaucastel, where they are grown biodynamically. They are one of the last to take advantage of the richness and complexity this blend offers.

The history of Beaucastel begins in the early 17th century. The Perrins appeared in the early 20th century. We are now five generations further and there is a global company in the field of quality wines. From very affordable to the absolute top. Everything about the vision, technology and vineyard management that have given Beaucastel its coveted global top position applies to the vineyards and the wines with the other appellations of origin, such as Ventoux, Luberon, Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas, Vinsobres, Rasteau and Vacqueyras. The Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin is a great wine. It is a blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 5% Counoise, all from very old vineyards. Only a very limited number of bottles are made of this top version of Beuacastel and it should not be missing in a top wine collection. In the review of Inside Bordeaux, Jane Anson writes: "So much complexity but also so much lightness of touch, just love this wine and its lyricism. Winemaker César Perrin effortlessly handles a vintage that had plenty of challenges."

In the glass it has a deep black-ruby red color. The wine has incredible minerality, along with black and blue fruits, forest soil and leather. Full, ink-stained, concentrated with serious tannins so let it rest in the cellar and this version certainly has a drinking window until 2045+. As they say at Chateau Beaucastel: this is "A wine to be kept for your retirement"
