The Sierra Cantabria Crianza is a delicious full Rioja, but in balance. Absolute recommendation. This wine is made from the Tempranillo. The Crianza has been matured for 14 months on French and American oak. Its color is ruby red with light violet in the edges of the glass. In the nose a bouquet of red fruit (berries, blackberries) with beautiful intensity, hints of roasted coffee, graphite and vanilla is released. Its taste has a good structure, good balance between tannins, alcohol and acids. Fresh mature fruit is in perfect balance with the characteristics of the aging (spices, roasted coffee, noble wood). The aftertaste leaves a fine lightly roasted memory with a precise mouthfeel. Parker ends his assessment with: It has to be one of the finest vintages for this wine.

The vineyards are located in the famous part of the Rioja, namely in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. The soil of the vineyard consists mainly of calcareous clay with gravel and the vineyard is managed sustainably. The hand-harvested bunches are selected in the vineyard with a 2nd selection in the winery by means of a sorting table. This 100% Tempranillo clone is destemmed with fermentation at a temperature between 26oC and 28oC with indigenous yeast selected from their own vineyards. For this beautiful crianza, a long maceration takes place with skins for 15 days, starting with two daily pump-overs and then a light pump-over during the last ten days. After this, the wine matures for 14 months in Bordeaux barrels of French and American oak.

The Spanish winery Sierra Cantabria was founded in 1957 by Guillermo Eguren and is one of Hermanos Eguren's beautiful wineries. Sierra Cantabria is located in the Rioja in a unique location between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. The Sierra Cantabria Mountains (1200m.) And the River Ebro (350m.) Provide a special microclimate with Mediterranean and continental features - mild winters and mild summers, unique to wine growing.
On the other hand, the thermal summer jump (intense heat during the day with fresh night temperatures) increases the polyphenol content, which makes for excellent quality wines with a distinctive character.

The vineyards of Bodega Sierra Cantabria are mainly located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, an area very well known for wine growing.
The Tempranillo variety predominates, along with small amounts of Garnacha, Viura and 'Hairy Tempranillo', all of which are grown in vineyards about 35 years old, although there are also plots up to 70 years old.The harvest is carried out by hand every year, paying special attention to the rigorous selection of the grapes that are the soul of the wine, in optimal condition and in perfect ripening conditions. The careful harvest is followed by a thorough separation of the bunches, which is done on a selection table at the entrance of the winery. Winemaking is aimed at minimal intervention in the winery to fully respect the character of the terroir
