2020 Puro Rofe Masdache

Lanzarote is paradise for wine lovers. Old autochthonous vines on lava soils, with Atlantic influences but the majority of the wine was mainly cheap tourist wines. Rayco Fernández, as a distributor based in Gran Canaria, had the same feeling. He decided to do something about it. With a number of like-minded friends, he decided to make real terroir wine on the island. And so it happened and with Puro Rofe extremely beautiful wines have now been made in an extreme landscape. The international wine press is also full of praise for the entire series, all of which score well above 90/100 points.

Masdache is a village near La Geria in Lanzarote, and the Masdache 2020 is a Listán Blanco based white with 35% Malvasía and 5% Diego from plots planted in smaller holes with greenish walls (socos) of many lichens. It is a serious, proportioned and harmonious white wine, a little shy and compressed at the beginning with a creamy touch, perhaps from its time in the barrel, where it fermented and aged for seven months. It has 12.92% alcohol with good freshness, a pH of 3.22, six grams of acidity and a very dry, sober aftertaste. Only 1,218 bottles of this elegant Atlantic Ocean wine were produced. 93/100 Parker

FACT: The Puro Rofe wines are all wines that come from a specific area/place. All single vineyards of which only a handful of bottles are always made.
