2020 Domaine Marc Colin Saint-Aubin Cuvée Luce

Marc Colin comes from a wine family in Burgundy with a solid reputation. Together with his two sons, he manages a domain of 20 ha located in the village of Saint-Aubin in the Côte de Beaune. It owns only top appellations: Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Premier Cru vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin and Pernand-Vergelesses. This is very exceptional. This domaine has traditionally been known for its quality, yet Colin sees an opportunity to improve it. He is therefore receiving increasingly favorable reviews in the international press. Colin's wines excel in purity and combine strength with elegance. Perhaps a little shy in their youth, but with huge storage potential.

Traditionally minded, he vinifies his wines with a curious intuition for nature. Although he is open to innovation, he sticks to a traditional style and, for example, strives for optimal freshness in his white wines and avoids the wood-dominated Chardonnay type. He is the most awarded winegrower from Gamay St-Aubin and owner of Restaurant Le Chassagne which has 1 Michelin star.

As usual, the Saint-Aubin Cuvée Luce is a blend of three plots that differ in the age, exposure and soil type of the vine, making for a complementary cuvée. Revealing aromas of crisp pear, white flowers, honeysuckle and freshly baked bread, medium to full bodied, ample and precise, with lively acidity and a chalky finish. The Saint Aubin wines are highly recommended and Colin is without a doubt the absolute king. This promising cuvée is a nice introduction to Colin's range.
