When we talk about Burgundy, Domaine Faiveley is one of the very best addresses. This is a large family business with approximately 120 hectares of vineyards, including famous names such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis Grand Cru.

However, it is also a family winery with 10 hectares of Grand cru and almost 25 hectares of Premier cru. The first step was taken in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley; his son Joseph turned the winery into a great top business and his wines became ambassadors of Burgundy wines all over the world. With a clear, elegant and striking style, wines are produced here without exception that meet the ideal image of Burgundy. “A winery of very high quality, which represents the full glory of French viticulture”, writes the famous wine author duo Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve in France.

Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time-honored traditions practiced for centuries in their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage benefits from special attention that makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

The village of Puligny-Montrachet is located between the well-known appellations Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. This region has exceptional terroirs where Chardonnay is perfectly expressed. Although wine was already being grown here in the 12th century, the name of the vineyard Montrachet was not added to the village name Puligny until 1879. This wine region mainly produces white wines from Chardonnay.

The area "Champ Gain" covers 10 hectares and is located just below the Premier Cru vineyard "La Garenne", on the highest part of the hill. The name of this plot means "Land reclamation from the forest" and what the name implies , there used to be a forest on this plot of land before vines were planted. The vineyard has been under the ownership of Domaine Faiveley since 2014.

The Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain has a very aromatic bouquet with citrus, passion fruit and pineapple. Complemented by subtle notes of toast. The taste is full and rich and has an excellent balance. A beautiful wine with a tight mineral aftertaste full of aromas.

Vineyard for 2020 Domaine Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain

The history of Domaine Faiveley dates back to 1825. The domain has been family-owned for 7 generations and is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of Burgundy. 127 ha Vineyards, spread over Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, of which 12 vineyards with Grand Cru classification, 25 with Premier Cru classification and 6 vineyards with a "Monopole" classification. The estate is managed by Erwan Faiveley, who keeps the work in the vineyards in-house to control the quality of the grapes. The hand-picked harvest is carefully transported to 19th century vaulted cellars located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. To make great Burgundies, Erwan Faiveley combines the principles of modern oenology with traditional aging in French oak barrels. All this contributes to the fact that Faiveley wines are highly regarded.
