Domaine d'Ardhuy is a Burgundy house that quickly became one of the top 5 producers in the region. Very extensive choice of terroirs, and high quality from the base to the Cru's.
Gabriel Ardhuy helped with the 1947 harvest in Burgundy and there he met his future wife Eliane, daughter of a winegrower from Burgundy. They have seven daughters. The d'Ardhuy family has long owned the trading house Pierre André, headquartered at Château Corton-André. This will be sold in 2002, so that all attention can be paid to the own vineyards and the development of the own domain. The Ardhuy family owns more than 40 hectares of vineyards in magnificent plots and also owns a company in the Rhone. For both domains a subsidiary has been appointed to organize it. At the beginning of 2003, Carel Voorhuis, son of a lawyer from Maastricht who had previously bought a winery in the Jura, comes in as a 'régisseur'. And then things go fast: already in 2004, the Revue de Vins de France chose Ardhuy as number 3 of producers in the Côte de Beaune and as number 4 in the Côte de Nuits.
The Domaine d'Ardhuy Ladoix Premier Cru Le Rognet Monopole comes from the Appelatie: Ladoix 1er Cru located in the place Le Rognet. This is of course a 100% Chardonnay coming from an area of 0.7975 ha. Le Rognet : Rogner - from common Latin *ROTUNDIARE, derived from classical Latin ROTUNDARE "give a round shape, round" - means "Cut a little at the edges to match the contours". Indeed, this is what has happened to the edges of this plot that have been straightened to make them disappear from Aloxe-Corton's Le Corton plot.
This stamp vineyard is located on a limestone soil of approximately 30 years old. The marl limestone from the middle Oxfordian era. This ground is comparable to that in neighboring Corton-Charlemagne. The wine has a clear, golden yellow color in the glass. In the nose notes of white flesh, tropical fruit and a hint of vanilla from the oak aging. The wine is full bodied with citrus fruit aromas. The wine is perfectly balanced with nice fruit and good acidity. Delicious with an apple pie Tatin, Lemon pie and of course with a nice grilled dorade.
