Pinot Blanc has become one of the important grapes of Wijngoed De Kleine Schorre. In sunny Dreischor it is just warm enough for this grape to ripen properly, while retaining its freshness. It is a grape that produces delicious fruity and slightly spicy wines, and which retains more acidity here than in Alsace, giving it a drier, more elegant and more stimulating character, with good acidity. Winemaker Johan van de Velde prefers to balance his 'Blanc', based on Pinot Blanc, by adding 10% of another grape. Auxerrois has been added to the 2022 version (approximately 10%). This makes the Blanc, as it is called, a wine that is beautifully balanced in character. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel into a wine with an elegant and stimulating character.
This Kleine Schorre Schouwen-Duiveland Blanc has a fresh, bright straw yellow color in the glass. The nose shows ripe pear, a hint of apricot, spring flowers, a hint of apple and citrus. On the palate, the small husky Pinot Blanc is juicy and ripe with fine acidity, lively and stimulating, beautifully balanced and is an excellent aperitif and a good accompaniment to herring, smoked salmon, salads, light cheeses and, of course, Zeeland mussels.

In 2001 Wijnhoeve De Kleine Schorre saw the light of Zeeland. A strict selection of grapes has been made in collaboration with the renowned Luxembourg wine company Cep d'Or. The choice of grape varieties is based on a number of criteria. One is that the wines must seamlessly connect to the good that Zeeland has long had to offer, namely the Zeeland Salty Beatitudes.
These salty blisses consist of: mussels, the Oosterschelde lobster, oysters, flatfish, sea lavender and samphire. The choice of grape varieties has therefore fallen on the Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Rivaner and Auxerrois.
The Vineyard
Currently, 42,000 vines are already planned. The vineyard has grown to 10 ha, making it one of the largest vineyards in the Netherlands. In the barn of the Wijnhoeve, the cellar and the test domain are housed. When it is time for the harvest, the Wijnhoeve is dependent on volunteers to pick the grapes. The grapes are processed with the utmost care in the cellar on the grounds.
Friends of the Wijnhoeve
Wijnhoeve De Kleine Schorre has been built by six enterprising Zeeland gentlemen into a flourishing Zeeland company. It has a special structure. In addition to the five shareholders, 25 certificate holders are also involved in the Wijnhoeve. Moreover, the Wijnhoeve has an extensive network at its disposal. This is the result of the possibility to also lease vines for a certain period of time.
Wijnhoeve De Kleine Schorre is located in the typical Zeeland ring village of Dreischor on the island of Schouwen-DĀ®uivenland. With her authentic black tarred barn from 1735, she owns one of the oldest barns in Dreischor.
