Description
This beautiful white Haut Brion de La Clarté has a beautiful, pale yellow color. The nose of this Clarté is relatively aromatic and reveals a wonderfully clear, pronounced expression of Sauvignon, which is dominant in the blend. The first taste is full, tasty and lively at the same time: Sémillon, unobtrusive on the nose, comes to the fore in the mouth and gives a fruity, elegant sensation of softness. A beautiful impression of balance, despite the average length on the palate. This is a very stylish La Clarté that should offer a decade of drinking pleasure. The Clarté is the wine that was served during the Oscar ceremony.

The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is showing nicely in bottle, bursting with notions of grapefruit, nectarine, lemongrass and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a sweet core of fruit and a chalky finish, it will offer demonstrative drinking young.

The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion is airy, bright and gracious, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Citrus peel, white flowers, mint, sage and green apple are all laced together in this breezy, charming white.

From: Vingt-Vingt Vins: Bordeaux 2020 (May 2021)
The 2020 La Clarté de Haut-Brion has a light nose of apple orchard, freshly sliced pear and light crushed rock scents, although I would have liked to see more intensity. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and quite saline, displaying a welcome touch of bitter lemon toward the finish. This should give a decade of drinking pleasure.

Château Haut-Brion is located in the French municipality of Pessac, a few kilometers southwest of the city of Bordeaux. Haut-Brion is the oldest and historically the most colorful Gironde winery - it was here that the first Bordeaux was made from a single vineyard in the 17th century, first donated in London coffee houses and praised by many leading writers. In 1935, the winery was bought by Clarence Dillon, an American banker. He invested large sums in the renovation of the chai and the vineyard. In 1960, Haut-Brion became the first premier cru, replacing the wooden barrels with stainless steel tanks. In 1983, the Dillon family bought the adjacent Château la Mission Haut-Brion.
The vineyard covers an area of 51 hectares of which just over 48 hectares are planted with red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) and just under 3 hectares are dedicated to white grape varieties (Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc).
