Château d'Issan is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Médoc and rightly bears the name 'Château'. The beautiful 17th century architecture can be found not only in the chateau itself, but also in the wine cellars. The history of wine itself is equally rich. The French and English royal houses served this wine at weddings and parties and the same applied to the Austrian court. Issan's motto can be found on the chic gold label: “Regum mensis aris que deorum”.
Blason d'Issan, the second wine, was introduced from 1995 to allow selection from our vines growing in the Margaux appellation area. Fruit from the youngest vines is used to produce this wine, which respects the identity of its terroir while offering a tasty round fruitiness that you can enjoy earlier than its big brother (or sister) Blason d'Ussan also ages 14 to 16 aged for months in barrels, a third of which are new. The Blason D'Issan is a blend of 57% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 3% petit verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored is the Blason d'Issan. The nose smells of earth, spices, warm plums and cassis with hints of tar. The taste is medium to full, firm and gritty with a lively backbone and savory finish. Decanting in his younger years
FACT: Under the tab: Attachment you will find the official fact sheet and we will send it to you digitally when you order this wine. It is also worth mentioning that we buy the Bordeaux directly and never through intermediaries because we then do not know all the journeys the wine has made and how it has been treated. The wines come from the cellars in the Chateau directly to our conditioned Warehouse in Dordrecht.
