The Terroir of Cos d'Estournel Blanc

The terroir of Cos d'Estournel Blanc consists of deep roots and a favourable location near the Gironde Estuary, which gives the wine remarkable balance, density and refinement. The combination of clay and gravel in the soil contributes to the unique characteristics of the wine. A programme of replanting and grafting has contributed to the continuous improvement of the wine quality. The soil is regularly ploughed and sustainable methods are used to grow top quality grapes.

The Estate

Located in the north of the Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d'Estournel appears majestic. The castle and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye like a real palace of a Maharaja. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel inherited several hectares of vineyards and built the estate. An adventurer who had travelled the world, his taste for the exotic and the East gave Château Cos d'Estournel its unique architecture in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, it continues to shine in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the tradition of the greatest wines in the world, characterised by a unique style where the taste for beauty and excellence is a constant quest.
