Description
Beau-Séjour Bécot bursts from the glass with aromas of cassis, wild berries, raw cocoa, spice and fertile earth. This medium to full-bodied wine is generous and fleshy, deep and layered, with a rich mid-palate supported by juicy acidity and powdery tannins. Beau-Séjour Bécot is located opposite Château Canon on the famous limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. In the cellar, foeders, amphorae and used barrels are combined with new oak. The result is one of the finest wines produced by this estate in modern times. The 2020 vintage is a blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.

A terrific performance for an estate on a continuing upward trajectory, the 2020 Beau-Séjour Bécot unwinds in the glass with a deep bouquet of cherries and blackberries mingled with violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, pure and layered, it's deep and concentrated, with a vibrant core of fruit, polished tannins and a long, sapid finish. The 2020 is a blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, some two-thirds of which was matured in new oak, with the balance in tanks, amphorae and foudres.
Fully four hectares of Beau-Séjour Bécot are lying fallow, and two more, recently replanted (with massal selections), are entering production only this year. That amounts to huge restructuring for an estate that only amounts to 22 hectares, sitting on Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau, and it will be fascinating to see the results. What has transformed this estate since 2018, however, has just as much to do with a change of approach in the winery and cellar as it does a change in the vineyards. Long but gentle macerations, more judicious extraction and a much defter touch with the choice of new oak are delivering wines of much greater finesse and complexity, without any loss of intensity, and the quality of this superb terroir is at last front and center in the glass.

This has a fantastic finish with crushed blackberries and raspberries and salt undertones. It’s full-bodied, yet really racy and polished with such fine, intense tannins. Love the length to this. Very distinguished and toned. Excellent energy. 85% merlot, 13% cabernet franc and 2% cabernet sauvignon.

The 2020 Beau-Sejour Becot is a dense, powerful wine. A rush of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and sweet oak builds as this towering, vertically explosive Saint-Émilion opens in the glass. This is an especially broad, expansive Saint-Émilion, much of that attributable to the clay in these soils. The 2020 is magnificent in its intensity and overall volume. Superb.

The Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot enjoys the unique beauty and privileges of its region as it is located on a clay and limestone plateau, centered in the prestigious Saint-Emilion.The Becot family owner of this outstanding vineyard, has been living in Saint Emilion since the French Revolution.
In 1969, Michel Becot bought the Chateau Beau-Sejour, and nowadays, the property stretches over 22 HA.Since then, Michel Becot’s sons, Gerard and Dominique have developed many technical innovations in their wine storehouse, and the vineyard in order to select the highest quality grapes, harvest them and then, hand picked them grape by grape.Under the vineyard and its 7HA. of limestone grounds lay safely in the best possible condition, over hundred thousand of well selected bottles of wine.
Today, the sixth generation of the Becot family is energized by the very same passion , close to its deep rooted family traditions, and is working diligently to maintain its ranking amongst the very best world grand crus. An unapologetic quest toward excellence, a maintain and respect of the region and its soil, a thirst for innovation guide their steps seasons after seasons, vintage after vintage.
