Description
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this Terrazas de Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on terraces at an altitude of 980 meters above sea level. These terraces are also known as Perdriel Terraces. Here we find the best terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Surrounded by the Andes Mountains, the grapes thrive in a safe environment. The warm sunshine combined with the wind that blows through the Andes creates a perfect climate. Natural irrigation is provided by meltwater from the permanently snow-capped peaks. At perfect ripeness in late March or early April, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand. After maceration and fermentation for 21 days, this red Argentinian wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which one-third is new oak. After bottling, the wine returns to the cellars for 6 months of bottle aging.
The Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense ruby-red color, typical of a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine takes some time to develop and has a wonderful freshness, thanks to the high-altitude vineyard and the wide temperature range between day and night. On the nose, we smell cherry, black currant, fig, olive, spice, and a hint of vanilla from the oak aging. The palate is deep, full, and wonderfully powerful. The rich nuances of black fruit are perfectly balanced with hints of spice and cocoa. The long finish is fruity and powerful with pleasant tannins.

Terrazas de los Andes literally means 'terraces of the Andes'. Each grape variety is cultivated at its own perfect altitude in the best Argentine wine regions, Vistalba, Mendoza and Cafayate. Founded in 1959 by Moët & Chandon, Terrazas combines French knowledge with more than 50 years of expertise of the Argentine terroir for wines of optimal quality, consistency and character. The wines have a very pure character and are internationally recognized with consistent 90+ ratings.
Terrazas de los Andes itself is deeply rooted in its original environment, from the land on which the grapes grow to the local community we are a part of. Preserving the delicate ecological balance of nature and contributing to the well-being of the people is a key priority for the House. We are actively looking for alternative methods and techniques to conserve soil, biodiversity and natural resources. Water is scarce in the Mendoza region.
