2020 Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this Terrazas de Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on terraces at an altitude of 980 meters above sea level. These terraces are also called Perdriel Terrace. Here we find the best terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Surrounded by the Andes mountains, the grapes are in a safe environment to grow. The warm hours of sunshine in combination with the wind blowing through the Andes create a perfect climate. Natural irrigation takes place through the meltwater that comes from the mountain peaks that are permanently snow-covered. At perfect ripeness at the end of March or beginning of April, the grapes are harvested completely manually. After maceration and fermentation of 21 days, this red Argentinian wine is allowed to mature for 12 months in French oak barrels, after which 1/3 is new oak. After bottling, the wine is returned to the cellars for 6 months for maturation in the bottle.

The Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense ruby-red color as befits a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine needs some time to release and has a very nice freshness, which is due to the high altitude vineyard and the very large temperature difference between day and night. In the nose we smell cherry, blackcurrant, figs, olives, spices and a hint of vanilla due to the oak aging. The taste is deep, full and wonderfully powerful. The rich nuances of black fruit are perfectly balanced with hints of spices and cocoa. The long aftertaste is fruity and powerful with pleasant tannins.
