Christopher Cannan, founder of Eurovin (1978) «discovered» Priorat in the 1980s and bought the Clos Figueras estate in 1997. North of the village of Gratallops, 18 ha. Llicorella (slate) soil. Ecological viticulture. The Font de la Figuera Blanco is an unusual yet so beautiful blend of Viognier, Garnacha Blanca and Chenin Blanc. The average age of the vines is 15 years. The grapes are harvested and put in boxes of 20 kg. Upon entering the cellar, the best grapes are selected on a sorting table for the Font de La Figuera Blanc. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature then matures 50-60% in French oak barrels of 500l and the rest in stainless tanks.
The Font de La Figuera Blanc has a pale color but is nicely aromatic, with notes of white flowers, apples and pears with some fennel and white pepper. The taste is light and fresh, with well-defined flavors, good acidity with a pleasant slightly bitter aftertaste. Impressive white wine with a gastronomic top due to the complex tones, the mineral character and the beautiful bitter. Delicious with Scampis, Fruit de Mer, but actually stands up to everything.

Clos Figueras winery is located in the center of the town of Gratallops in the Spanish province of Tarragona. Clos Figueras winery has a fantastic 300-year-old underground cellar that creates the perfect conditions for the aging of the wines in French oak barrels.
The Domaine was purchased in 1997 by Christopher Cannan and his wife Charlotte, partly inspired by the famous Rene Barbier (Clos Mogador). The estate is located in the heart of the Priorat, in the village of Gratallops. The bottom consists of slate (or licorella), which is the secret behind the beautiful minerality in the wine. All vineyards are planted on ancient terraces that are difficult to reach. Today Christopher is advised by Alain Graillot (famous from the Rhône Valley) resulting in wines with finesse and elegance. The mountainous Priorat has its own microclimate. Summers are long and very warm. In winter, the mercury can drop to zero degrees. Production in the area is scarce and there is indeed a niche market for Priorat wines, especially the new wines from Gratallops.
