After the great success of Miraval 'The Art of Rosé', the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin families announce a new project: FLEUR DE MIRAVAL, the only Champagne house in the world that focuses exclusively on Rosé Champagne.
FLEUR DE MIRAVAL was created in the utmost secrecy from the collaboration of the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin families with an established name in the Champagne business: the Péters family. The Péters family has been based in the Champagne region since 1919 and sells its high-quality Blanc de Blancs Champagnes all over the world. Rodolphe Péters, manager of the Grand Cru vineyards of the Péters family, has had strong ties with the Perrin family for many years. The shared passion for creating 'the great wines in the world' proved to be a fertile basis for the development of the FLEUR DE MIRAVAL Rosé Champagne. The crown on the work of five years of dedication, research and refinement.
“This project is primarily an artistic adventure, because the creation of exceptional wines is an art form,” explains the Perrin family. Rodolphe Péters shares our passion for the world's best wines. Still, when we drank vintage Rosé Champagnes together, we came to the same conclusion: we love the vintage aromas that Rosé champagnes develop. Especially like these tend towards Chardonnay, but we often find the red wine aromas too present. That is why we wanted to make a different kind of Rosé Champagne in which ripe Chardonnay grapes are blended with young Pinot Noir grapes.”
The Fleur de Miraval Rosé Champagne consists of 75% Chardonnay grapes of different ages, mixed with 25% young Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is made according to the unique saignée method, which gives the wine its subtle, pink color. The combination of older Chardonnay with young Pinot Noir grapes gives the wine nice notes of red currant and raspberry, with a delicate minerality. After fermentation, the Rosé Champagne matures for 3 years in the bottle in the dark cellars of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. To protect the champagne from UV radiation, each bottle is lacquered; for example, the wine is only exposed to daylight when the bottle is opened. This exclusive production method aims, as Brad Pitt himself describes it, to “create a champagne that evokes feelings of quality, prestige, party and luxury”.
