The grapes are matured on a chalky, stony soil with sandy earth. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine matures for 12 months: 40% in American oak barrels and 60% in stainless steel tanks. This 100% Syrah has an intense deep red color with powerful aromas of blackberries, berries and ripe notes of coffee beans, eucalyptus and dried plums. The taste is full, with a remarkably soft tannin structure and a sultry spicy aftertaste.

The history begins in 1958, when a number of winegrowers formed a partnership and founded the Cooperative de Borja. Today, 620 winegrowers are affiliated and manage a vineyard area of 2,430 hectares. The vineyards are mainly located between Monte Moncayo and the Ebro River at altitudes between 300 and 700 metres. Since 2001, the cooperatives of Borja Pozuelo and Tabuenca have joined forces and Bodegas Borsao SA was founded. With the aim of producing the best Garnacha wines from the region. The appointment of winemaker José Luis Chueca underlines this aim; he is seen worldwide as 'the master of Garnacha'.

Sweet coffee, chocolate and smoke to the tarry black cherries. A full-bodied syrah with firm tannins that provide some chew to the back of the palate, before a slightly warming finish. Give it one more year to come around. The woody sweetness and tannins are a little dominating now. Drink in 2024.

A rich, medium- to full-bodied red, with an underpinning of mesquite smoke and loamy earth and flavors of fig cake, baked black currant, dried mint and mocha. The Bodega Borsao was founded in 2001 and is located on the Campo de Borja vineyards. This Bodega is responsible for the spectacular progress of this area. The vineyard is in Moncayo and lies at an altitude of 400 to 700 meters, where the queen of the grape is planted: the Garnacha or Grenache which is able to survive perfectly in the harsh weather conditions of the area. The Tres Picos and Tres Lagunas are made from 100% Garnacha grapes that are harvested from very old vines. The vineyards are fairly cool at about 650 meters above sea level in Campo de Borja, south of the Rioja. Partly because of this, the grapes ripen slowly and gradually. An important condition for the production of complex and high quality wines. After fermentation, a short maturation follows on small oak casks. In taste, the wines are certainly the equal of a complex Châteuneuf-du-Pape, which is also mainly made from Grenache grapes. They easily win in price! The well-known American wine writer Robert Parker invariably scores 90 points or more. The Tres Picos is an internationally renowned wine. The Tres Lagunas is only imported by us to the Netherlands and is absolutely unique in terms of price / quality.
