2019 Albet I Noya Lignum Negre
Composed of the typical Catalan grape varieties such as Garnatxa and Ull de llebre and the classic French ones such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this red Spanish wine is a real classy wine with character. The grapes come from the highest vineyards in the dry areas of the Penedès. Lignum = barrel/wood. The Lignum Negre from Albet I Noya has aged for 10 months in barrels from Allier.
In the glass, this red topper is brilliant cherry red. Red fruit in the nose with that unmistakable Mediterranean touch of spiciness and garrigue. Balanced in the mouth with lots of fruit and perfect acidity. Balanced wood aging, ripe red berry, a palate with density and temperament. The perfect wine as an accompaniment to red meat on the grill or southern meat dishes. Rich, full-bodied and with a juicy tannin structure.
