Chadwick 2018 is one of the flagship wines of Viña Errazuriz, a prominent winery in Chile. This wine is named after Eduardo Chadwick, a leading figure in the Chilean wine industry, known for his efforts to put Chilean wines on the world map. Chadwick 2018 is an extraordinary example of the high quality that Chilean viticulture can achieve.

Features of Chadwick 2018

  • Grape varieties: The wine is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, often supplemented with small amounts of other Bordeaux varieties such as Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, depending on the vintage and the specific blend chosen to achieve the best expression of the terroir.
  • Origin: The grapes for Chadwick 2018 come from the Viña Errazuriz vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley, a region known for its ideal climate and soil conditions for growing premium grapes.
  • Vineyards: The vineyards have been carefully managed to ensure low yields, resulting in high quality grapes with intense flavor and aromas.
  • Vinification: The wine undergoes careful fermentation and is then aged in French oak barrels, a significant portion of which are new. This contributes to the complexity and structure of the wine.
  • Tasting notes: Chadwick 2018 has a deep, ruby red color. The bouquet offers rich aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and cassis, with subtle hints of cedarwood, graphite and dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is full and lush, with firm but refined tannins and perfectly integrated acidity. The flavors of ripe dark fruit are complemented by layers of spice, vanilla and a touch of mineral notes. The aftertaste is long, elegant and complex.
  • Wine Style: Chadwick 2018 is a world-class wine, which has the potential to age and develop over the years. It is a powerful and refined wine that can be enjoyed now or after many years of cellar maturation.

Chile deserves the top prize of all 'new' wine countries. Mainly due to the fact that the wines of this country have found a connection with the taste of many wine lovers, wherever in the world, at a record pace. There are of course special reasons for this success. The climate and soil type are ideal here and the classic European grape varieties were already present. Yet it is mainly thanks to the vision of people like Eduardo Chadwick-Errázuriz that these benefits were so quickly translated into resounding success. Exactly 140 years ago, Maximiano Errázuriz planted his vineyard in Panquehue, at the foot of the highest mountain in the Andes chain. The cool fall winds, proximity to the Aconcagua River and annual rainfall of only 25 cm make this an ideal area for wine growing. His great-grandson Eduardo Chadwick-Errázuriz has added a number of plots since 1990; they are planted with the grape varieties that best suit the specific soil and microclimate. As a result, in addition to the classic cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay, the merlot, shiraz and carmenère also benefit from this earthly paradise for wine growing. Viña Errázuriz has since grown to become the absolute top of Chilean wine producers.
