Description
This Saint-Véran plot, from the southern half of the Mâconnais, measures 0.40 hectares and was planted in 1988 on beds of rich, calcareous clay. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted and pressed in Mâcon before being decanted overnight and sent back to Puligny for fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months at the Domaine in 20% new oak and then for 6 months in stainless steel barrels before bottling. The resulting wine is one of the best from Saint-Véran and grows in popularity and recognition year after year.
Aromatically, the wine is light and citrus-driven, salty and with a lingering scent of freshly baked apple pie. On the palate the wine is zesty with lemon and lime zest, a hint of cream in the mid-palate and an end note of chalky minerality.

"The tension in this chiseled white heightens the apple, lemon and salty, minerally flavors. A hint of seashore lingers with a pleasant bitterness." Bruce Sanderson

"This wine is rich and concentrated, full of ripe white fruit and acidity with a judicious touch of wood. Its acidity, mineral texture and toastiness give this blend of parcels across the appellation the essential aging potential. Drink from 2021." Roger Voss
15,75-16,25/20
"Very citrus. Lime fruits. tight and this is energetic and quite lean. Very keen and fresh and bright. Needs time - quite strict now. Very unfinished of all the wines. ..well bit like the Pucelles." Sarah Marsh, The Burgundy Briefing, 01/12/2018
"Hmm – that’s beautiful – a cushioned minerality and inviting purity of aroma. Gas like all but a bigger shape here – a mouthful of delicious, fresh, well-concentrated flavour – such a classic selection at this producer in 2017. Vibrant and concentrated finishing – Bravo." Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report, 01/12/2018
