Description
This château of Gerard Perse, owner of Ch Pavie, is located in Saint Emilion, where no white wine is normally made. With this cuve, Mr Perse has proven that a great white wine can indeed be made in this region. The terroir is also extremely suitable for this, and consists mainly of graves. It is a small plot of 1 hectare that produces this high-quality, rare but beautiful wine.
The Monbousquet 2018 Blanc consists of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Sémillon and 5% Muscadelle. After a bit of swirling in the glass, the wine has notes of white peaches, honey, melon, fresh pears and yellow apple with a hint of white pepper, oyster shell and honeysuckle. The palate is medium-bodied with a refreshing line of mineral/chalky elements and has a long, savory finish.

The Monbousquet 2018 Blanc is composed of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Sémillon and 5% Muscadelle. It has 13.75% alcohol and a 3.37 pH. The nose is fairly closed to begin, needing a good bit of air to unlock notions of white peaches, honeydew melon, fresh pears and yellow apple with wafts of white pepper, oyster shell and honeysuckle. The palate is medium-bodied with a refreshing line carrying the chalk and apple inspired elements to a long, savory finish.

Dried lemon-zest, pineapple, lychee, lemon-grass and spice aromas. Lots of dried pear. It’s full-bodied with bright acidity. Dense, layered and flavorful. Fresh ginger undertones. Needs a year or two to come together. 400 cases made.
