Cantina Giba is located in the southwest of Sardinia, in the heart of Sulcis. This is the premier region for Carignano del Sulcis, where the grape thrives thanks to sandy soils and the influence of the sea. The estate works with old vines, often ungrafted, resulting in low yields and high concentration in the wines.

The Seipiù line represents the absolute pinnacle of the estate. These are micro-productions sourced from the best plots, with a focus on precision and selection.

Extremely limited production and selection

Seipiù means the purest/the finest selection , or loosely translated , the best part. The 2018 Seipiù Rosso Riserva is a true collector's item. Only 133 bottles of this edition were produced, and each bottle is individually numbered. This underscores how small and exclusive this production is.

The selection for this wine is extremely strict. Not only by plot or bunch, but even at the berry level. Only the finest and perfectly ripe grapes from the best part of the vineyard are used. This ensures exceptional concentration and purity.

In principle, this wine remains almost entirely in Sardinia and is rarely available outside the island.

Origin and terroir of Sulcis

The wine comes from the coastal region of Sulcis, where vineyards are often situated on pure sandy soils. This terroir is unique within Europe, because phylloxera is hardly present here and old, ungrafted vines have been preserved.

The combination of sun, wind, and sea creates a distinctive profile. Warm days yield ripe fruit, while the constant sea breeze provides freshness and tension. This results in wines with depth, as well as balance and refinement.

Grapes and vinification

The Seipiù Rosso Riserva is made from Carignano, a grape that suits the climate of Sulcis perfectly. Thanks to selection at the berry level and the use of only the best fruit, a wine of maximum concentration and precision is created.

Style and taste profile

The 2018 has a deep ruby red color and an intense aromatic profile. On the nose, you find ripe black fruit such as blackberry and black cherry, combined with Mediterranean herbs and a light earthy touch.

On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, yet refined at the same time. The tannins are ripe and round, providing a soft structure despite the intensity. The finish is long and layered, with fruit, spices, and a subtle saline tension typical of Sulcis. Seipiù Rosso Riserva 2018 is an extremely rare Carignano with depth, precision, and a clear provenance. This is Carignano del Sulcis at the highest level. Old vines, extreme selection, and a production of only 133 numbered bottles make this a wine for enthusiasts and collectors.
