'Mirabelles', a wine that shows the vibrancy of Malvasia de Sitges and its extraordinary aging potential. A new encounter with one of the great native varieties of Penedès
Mirabelles represents another step forward in Celler Credo's commitment to rediscover and explore the traditional varieties of the Penedès region. Mirabelles is made from a family vineyard in Can Rossell de la Serra (Torrelavit), grown according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming. The vineyard, which covers a total of 0.9 hectares, stands at an altitude of 280 meters and is made of clay-loam soil.
The Mirabelles has a deep golden color in the glass. On the nose and palate the wine has fantastic lively acidity, and the texture and mouthfeel limestone - very dry and with a terroir sensation rather than the aromatic grape. It does have some notes reminiscent of apricot peel and it develops nicely in the glass. A wine that becomes more elegant and special with some years due to the great backbone. Only around 750 bottles are always made of this topper from Celler Credo Mirabelles.

Celler Credo by Recaredo
A project of Recaredo, for which a few plots have been purchased for the production of these vin naturel wines. The aim is to make a pure expression of the Xarel.lo by using different maturation and fermentation methods. A special pure style wine, great for wine/food combinations! This Vin Naturale wine is vinified and bottled at Recaredo - the owner of Celler Credo.
The following facts testify that serious effort is being made to make this great wine extremely sustainable
- Only 11% alcohol - so fitting in the modern style of good wine with less alcohol
- Sulphite only <10 mg/l (150 mg/l is allowed by the EU for organic/organic white wines)
- Residual sugar only <0.5 g/l
- Vegan wines not cleared with animal proteins
- 390 gr EcoBottle (Less weight, less impact on the carbon footprint
- Organic Farming - Certified Organic by CCPAE

One of the new wines here, the 2016 Mirabelles is produced with the rare and aromatic Malvasía de Sitges, a grape often used to produce sweet wines. But this is completely dry, and it fermented and matured in clay amphorae. It has a deep golden color from a vineyard regrafted to the variety. Despite the variety, the wine is austere and has vibrant acidity, and the texture and mouthfeel are about limestone—very dry and with a terroir sensation rather than the aromatic grape. It does have some notes reminiscent of apricot peel, and it develops nicely in the glass. This is quite unique and very attractive. It has incredible parameters, a pH of 2.84!! Only 500 bottles were produced in this first vintage, as yields are extremely low the first year after regrafting. If one wine makes you salivate, it's this one!!

With these still white wines, the Recaredo team discovers what is possible with Xarel.lo from different teroirs and vinification methods.
Impeccable Vins Natural! Recaredo has acquired a number of (very) special vineyards in the Penedès region for the production of refined natural wines. The aim is a pure expression of Xarel.lo where different fermentation methods and maturation processes are used. The wines are made by the well-known winemakers Nuria Arteaga and Ton Mata and they know exactly how to strike the right chord and make particularly pure and energetic wines from Xarel.lo, whereby the wines, as also with the Cavas from Recaredo, have become benchmark wines for ' nature' style Xarel.lo in the Penedès. Aged on the lees, macerated with the skin or stems of the grape, without the addition of sulphites – modern techniques or techniques learned from our grandparents... In short, a thousand and one ways to interpret Xarel-lo. In other words, Xarel-lo is the Credo.
