Garnacha originated in Aragón, where Borja is located, and it owes its development throughout Europe to the strength of the Kingdom of Aragon, whose expansion made Garnacha well-established in the Rhone Valley in the 19th century, Italy and Sardinia.

The Grenache and Syrah vineyards are aged 15 to 30 years for the Grenache and 10 years for the Syrah, both cultivated on stony, slimy soils with clay and limestone. Maceration for 3-4 days and in total between 12-15 days. Separate fermentation of each variety in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 22ºC - 26ºC. It matured for five months in French oak barrels for second and third use, and the oak is very well integrated and respects excellent.

With the Tres Picos, the Borsao Berola is Borsao's top model. It is a blend of natural Grenache with Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon coming from vineyards located in the mountains and aged from 35 to 60 years for the Grenache and 10 years for the Syrah. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 600-700 meters on limestone and slate plateaus with lime and clay.

Here, too, the grape varieties ferment and ripen separately. Fermentation is in stainless steel and the aging is 14 months in bordelaise barrels of French and American oak. The wine has an intense cherry red color. Remarkable aromatic complexity with memories of black fruit and balsamic and toasted notes. The wine It has more aromas of dark chocolate and vanilla. Warm and soft on the palate, with soft but persistent tannins in perfect balance with the alcohol.

Vineyard for 2016 Bodegas Borsao Berola

The Bodega Boesao was founded in 2001 and is located on the Campo de Borja vineyards. This Bodega is responsible for the spectacular progress of this area. The vineyard is in Moncayo and lies at an altitude of 400 to 700 meters, where the queen of the grape is planted: the Garnacha or Grenache which is able to survive perfectly in the harsh weather conditions of the area. The Tres Picos and Tres Lagunas are made from 100% Garnacha grapes that are harvested from very old vines. The vineyards are fairly cool at about 650 meters above sea level in Campo de Borja, south of the Rioja. Partly because of this, the grapes ripen slowly and gradually. An important condition for the production of complex and high quality wines. After fermentation, a short maturation follows on small oak casks. In taste, the wines are certainly the equal of a complex Châteuneuf-du-Pape, which is also mainly made from Grenache grapes. They easily win in price! The well-known American wine writer Robert Parker invariably scores 90 points or more. The Tres Picos is an internationally renowned wine. The Tres Lagunas is only imported by us to the Netherlands and is absolutely unique in terms of price / quality.
