From Redhead's newest addition winemaker Dan Graham, this great wine is a rare blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc . A beautiful glass, a 3-time gold medal winner, full of dense black fruit with an elegant structure and subtle French oak for complexity.
Like all wines from Redheads Studio , this special wine also has a story. Esulé is a story about the tragedy of the modern age, about being an outcast from life and about desolation. The victim is Cabernet, both Sauvignon and Franc, who has fallen out of favor and simply doesn't fit into McLaren Vale's fashion image. A former crown-bearer A-list, this Cabernet now lives shattered, wandering aimlessly and watching as the Shiraz now sits atop the throne. That is why this wine is an ode to the Cabernets, lest we forget that these outcasts are still of royal character. After all, it's not the Cabernets that have changed, but ourselves. However, judging by the strength and intensity of the grapes, trendy or not, they can't help but be a precursor to the taste buds. That's why Redheads Studio is definitely not leaving the Cabernets; they defend it precisely through this beautiful red that is the epitome of elegance, class and finesse.
Both Cabernets originate near the ocean, where the cooler temperatures bring out the intensely bright fruit and firm tannins, supporting the dense, ripe flavors. Open-top fermentation, aging in pure French oak (Legrand) and all the handmade techniques we are used to from Redheads really complete this wine. This Esulé has an impressive depth of almost black red. Creamy black fruit aromas with notes of oak. A wine with velvety texture, intense blackcurrant and eucalyptus aromas of impressive length and a fresh note thanks to the elegant tannins.
Food recommendation from the winemakers: a must with roast venison with kale chips, game and steak patties or a vegetarian shepherd's pie with garlic mousse.
This wine has exciting cellaring potential. Open the wine early and preferably decant, or give this Woman With Gun permission to reveal her full 'tragedy' in about 5 years.
