2016 Mas d'en Gil Clos Fonta

Masia Barril, the first winery to produce wines in the DO Priorat, has regained its original name, Mas d'en Gil, since 1998, when it was taken over by the Rovira Carbonell family. Located in Bellmunt, 350 meters above sea level, this bodega is blessed with a specific microclimate with warm, humid southeast winds, which give the wines a complex and differentiated character.

The Clos Fonta is a serious wine and the flagship Mas d'en Gil. The vineyard is located on a slate plateau and is around 80 years old. The wine has the personality of the Priorat with polished tannins, well integrated oak and fresh aromas and flavours. Beautiful aromas of ripe red and black fruits and notes of rosemary and balsamic and a mineral background. The taste is powerful and silky at the same time and the aftertaste is nothing short of amazing. A large Priorat from one of the best vintages.
