They belong to the secret heroes of the international wine world: winemakers such as the quality-seeking Carlos Figueiredo, who esteems his birthplace Dão and the local terroir, but also produces wines at a global level. With his wines, wine lovers find the individuality that is often lost in times of increasing globalization of wine tastes: authentic, traditionally prepared wines with a radiant regional character, made from indigenous grape varieties in a limited edition. It is therefore no surprise that señor Figueiredo has planted the touriga nacional - the king of Portuguese grapes - and produces characteristic, typically Portuguese terroir wines such as the Quinta da Falorca Touriga Nacional Dão 2011. It is not without reason that the wine has earned 95 Parker points!
The Touriga Nacional Quinta Da Falorca 2012 is a mix of Touriga grapes from three plots of 40 years old and 1 vineyard slightly younger. Used in total with 31 clones !! The grapes have been aged for 18 months in both 1-year use and new French oak. The combination of power, finesse and elegance makes this a very tempting wine. The wine needs time and can improve even further over the years and we therefore recommend that the first bottle is not opened until 2019, but they can also stay in the cellar until 2035+ (but why would you do that). The wine can best be compared to a nice solid red Burgundy top but then this is only a fraction of the price. 93/100 Parker
The wine has an impressive cherry red color with a violet edge. The extremely lively bouquet smells of black cherries, blackberries, blueberries and pampers the nose with floral aromas, notes of herbs, spices and fragrant vataromas such as cocoa, toast and espresso. In the mouth an impressive fusion of power and finesse, with ripe but firm tannins, excellent concentrated acids, well-balanced fruitiness and noticeable but perfectly integrated wood aromas. The final shows strength, length and enormous potential. That is the level of a grand cru without hassle.
Rustic Mediterranean stews, refined lamb dishes and grilled vegetables such as aubergine and zucchini go with this wine.
