2010 Sierra Cantabria Gran Reserva

The Sierra Catanbria Gran Reserva from the Spanish top winery Sierra Cantabria is only made in the beautiful years. The Gran Reserva is a blend of mainly Tempranillo with a little Graciano from vineyards older than 30 years. The wine is aged for 26 months in American oak of which 25% is new oak and 75% is 2nd or maximum 3rd year. The wine is bottled without filtration. The wine is then bottle-aged for years before it is released. After 2005, 2008 and 2009, 2010 is the successor.

The wine is surprisingly soft and elegant on the first attack, but after some rolling, a pallet of scents is released. On the nose we smell beautiful notes of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, violets, minerals and various black fruits leading to a firm, burly wine with excellent volume & concentration with densely packed, layered fruit. Already delicious to drink, but we recommend opening the wine an hour in advance or decanting it differently.
