Description
Château Latour from Pauillac stepped out of the Bordeaux trading system of offering the wine en primeur to the market a few years ago. They now release a vintage from their cellars every year that they themselves believe is perfect to enjoy now and in the years to come. Although a monument like Château Latour can of course also be kept for a very long time. The 2010 vintage was not offered by the Château until September 2022.
Château Latour re-releases its 2010. This is one of the legendary Latours with the perfect score of 100 points from various wine critics! One of the most essential wines from Bordeaux of the last years.
The Latour 2010 is deep garnet in colour and bursts from the glass with powerful aromas of cherries, blackberries, dried roses, cigar boxes, fragrant autumn earth. Full, concentrated and oh so decadent on the palate, it has a firm, grainy texture and a delicious freshness that carries the rich, luscious fruit into an epically long finish. Incredibly tempting to drink now, this wine will reveal its otherworldly secrets over the next fifty years++. Packaged in OWC/1

The 2010 Latour is deep garnet in color, and—WOW—it erupts from the glass with powerful crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and blackberry pie scents plus intense sparks of dried roses, cigar boxes, fragrant earth and smoked meats with aniseed and crushed rocks wafts. Full-bodied, concentrated and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy texture and lovely freshness carrying the rich, opulent fruit to an epically long finish. It is incredibly tempting to drink now, but I suspect this hedonic experience isn't a scratch on the mind-blowing, otherworldly secrets this time capsule will have to reveal given another 7-10 years in bottle and continuing over the following fifty years++.

From: Squares & Circles: Bordeaux ‘10 At Ten (Apr 2020)
The 2010 Latour can be summed up in two words: “The king.” It convincingly asserts its superiority over other 2010s, including First Growths, in terms of its aromatic complexity, precision, balance, intensity, complexity and persistence. Simply a faultless Latour that ranks among its greatest achievements. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the BI Wines & Spirits 10-Year On tasting.

The 2010 Latour is conspicuously deep in colour. It has an intellectual, intense and captivating bouquet with mineral-rich black fruit, graphite and crushed rose petal scents. Utterly spellbinding. The palate is the real deal. Heavenly balance, perfect acidity with seamlessly integrated new oak, there is an enthralling crescendo towards a finish that is simply as good as Bordeaux gets. Impeccable. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

The Château Latour is one of the most famous wineries in the world. It is located in the Bordeaux in Pauillac. It is located on the border with the Saint-Julien wine region. Château Latour is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé according to the Bordeaux wine classification system of 1855. The estate covers 60 hectares and approximately 78% cabernet sauvignon, 17% merlot and a little cabernet franc and petit are added.
History
Château Latour has played an important role in the history of the region. Throughout the centuries, many old documents about this winery have been preserved in the archives. This unique heritage shows extraordinary stability and continuity in the estate and those who have worked there throughout Latour's long history, which has undoubtedly been an important factor in the exceptional regularity and quality of the wines.
The oldest document with the mention Latour dates from 1331 and is an authorization given by Lord Pons to Gaucelme de Castillon to build a fortified tower in the parish of Saint Maubert. Château Latour then appears in 1378 in Jean Froissart's "Chronicles". This was the time of the 100 Years' War. The "Tour de Saint Maubert" was a fortress to guard the estuary, manned by Breton soldiers for the King of France. After a three-day siege, the Anglo-Gascon army seized the fort and installed a garrison.
