Description
Seña was originally a joint venture between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi with the aim of producing Chile's ultimate premium red wine. Sharing their dreams, efforts and dedication, in 1997 they released the first vintage of Seña (1995), Chile's first Icon wine, which marked a milestone and paved the way for Ultra Premium winemaking in Chile. It has been a biodynamic wine for 15 years.
To extend the celebration of the estate's 25th anniversary and following the release of the 2019 vintage in the fall of last year, the Chadwick family are offering for sale a very limited number of bottles of the 2009 vintage direct from the wine library of the estate. The wine if purchased per 6 bottles is in a beautiful box
The 2009 Seña is produced with a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. Most of it ferments in stainless steel with about 10% in concrete vats, and the final blend matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, of which 80% new and 10% in Stockinger casks. This is still incredibly elegant, subtle and harmonious. It has floral aromas, notes of orange peel, a touch of creamy sweet spice and great freshness. The palate is medium-bodied, seamless and pure, with sharp flavors and a smooth texture. It's long, clean, defined and super tasty. Such a world-class wine fits an ultra-modern kitchen with the best beef, lamb or game.
FACT: World-famous winemakers Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi founded 'The Berlin Tasting' together in 2004. In this copy of the 'Jugement de Paris' from 1976 Chilean top wines are tasted worldwide, in addition to classics considered unbeatable such as Château Lafite-Rotschild, Château Margaux, Stag's Leap and Sassicaia. During tastings in Budapest and Honk Kong, the Chilean wines took no fewer than 4 places out of the top 5! The Chilean icon wine Seña finished in 1st place in Budapest and with the 2007 vintage became 2nd after Château Margaux in the Hong Kong tasting!

The Viña Seña winery is located in Valle de Aconcagua. It was founded in 1995 by two charismatic winemakers: the Chilean Eduardo Chadwick, the owner of Viña Errazurriz and legendary Californian Robert Mondavi. What started as an ambitious dream at the time - producing a world-class wine in Chile - has now found countless followers. Nevertheless, the Seña remains in a class of its own. The futuristic bodega, designed by the Chilean star architect Germán del Sol, is spectacular. But the main property of the winery is the 42 hectares of vineyards, surrounded by breathtaking nature on various soils and planted with cabernet sauvignon, carmenère, merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot, malbec and syrah. In short, the traditional varieties. The conditions for growing wine are so good here that you can work organically without tools. Needless to say, a winery like Viña Seña has the very best and most modern technology in the wine cellar. The responsible oenologist has been Francisco Baettig since 2003, a student of Michel Laroche and Michel Rolland. The latter has even improved the five most recent volumes of the Seña. The joint venture with Robert Mondavi ended in 2005, but the visionary's spirit is still ubiquitous. Viña Seña is one of the greatest icons of the wine world.
