How does this wine taste?
How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.
The drying, grippy feel on your gums and tongue, as with strong tea. It comes from the skins and seeds of black grapes and from oak, and softens with age.
How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.
How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

Log inThe Enate Crianza is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. The classic blend of grapes, but Enate style – and how beautifully those two go together in a glass! So, with the utmost care for the grapes – hand-picked and destemmed. The hand-picked bunches are destemmed. The perfectly ripe grapes are pressed and fermented separately (Tempranillo <> Cabernet) in stainless steel tanks at 28°C. Maceration lasts 10-15 days. The young wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation and aging for 9 months in oak barriques: French (for the Cabernet Sauvignon) and American (for the Tempranillo). The wine is traditionally clarified with albumin (proteins) and lightly filtered. It is bottled without cold stabilization treatment, which may result in a small sediment in the bottle. A sign of quality.
The Enate Tempranillo - Cabernet Sauvignon Crianza has a deep cherry-red color in the glass. Intense and complex nose, rich in smoky notes and spices, on a base of ripe fruit. On the palate, the wine is full of structure, well-balanced thanks to the ripe tannins and fresh acidity. Long finish with elegant oak notes. Enate wines are renowned throughout the world and the labels are created by Spain's best visual artists. Great value for money.

Wine features
Enate is a modern Bodega from Somontano in northern Spain. Enate is located in the village of Salas Bajas, in Somontano, which is located in the northeast of Spain, a good distance from the coast. The leafy landscape can be quite rough, which fully confirms the name Somontano - under the mountains. The local wine growers have had to lobby for a long time to obtain their DO status, but they did manage in the end. Since then, Somontano has been a big name in Spanish wine growing. So enate wines come from a good family. The area where the grape for the Enate wine is grown is characterized by above average rainfall and an abundance of rivers and streams. All that water is good for the soil, which consists largely of clay and sandstone. The nearby Pyrenees give the weather a certain capriciousness. At night it is surprisingly cold, while the sun can scorch in the afternoon. Those 2 extremes give the grapes used for the Enate wine a good balance of acids and sugars.
Despite the relatively young age of this bodega, founded in 1991, it is already one of the most prestigious wineries in Spain. In addition to the quality of the wines, Enate stands out for its sampling. Spanjes' best contemporary visual artists make the labels. ENATE's mission is to make high-quality and premium wines from the best grapes of Somontano, with respect for the ancient local traditions and using the latest technology.
This company with 500 ha of vineyards has a clear philosophy: the Nozaleda family wants to make the best wines from the Denominación Somontano. Oenologist Jesús Artajona translates this philosophy into wine. Bodega Enate concentrates on the international grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Chardonnay and the Spanish royal grape Tempranillo. The company makes 85% red wine, 10% white wine and 5% rosé. The vineyards are located at the foot of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 550-600 m above sea level. The climate is Atlantic. This means high temperatures during the day (34-35 ° C) and strong cooling at night (17-18 ° C), ideal for the growth of the grapes.
The establishment of the winery also went its own way: the main building is multifunctional and was designed with the aim of uniting spectacular architecture with the wine world. This gives Enate a lot of attention from mountain hikers and curious wine lovers. The objective of bringing art and wine together is reflected in the labels of the bottles. It shows works of art from the Spanish art avant-garde (Antonio Saura, Eduardo Chillida, Antoni Tàpies and many others). The collection of own labels is exhibited in the winery's own gallery.
