The name La Scolca comes from the name "Sfurca" which means viewpoint. In the past there was also a farm on the land of La Scolca that served as a lookout. The name La Scolca is synonymous worldwide with Gavi, a superior dry white wine from Piedmont. In the period 1917-1919 the estate came into the possession of the Soldati family. Today it is Giorgio Soldati who runs the domain together with his daughter Chiara, already the fifth generation. This makes La Scolca the oldest wine company in the region that is still managed by one and the same family. La Scolca wines are internationally acclaimed by many stars and the Gavi dei Gavi “Black Label” is even the house wine of Queen Elizabeth. La Scolca is seen as the absolute specialist and the top house among the Gavis.
