Zweigelt
Zweigelt is a blue grape developed in 1922 by Fritz Zweigelt of the Federal Institute for Wine Culture in Klosterneuburg, Austria. It is a cross between the St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch grapes. It is the most common blue grape in Austrian viticulture. In 2008, the acreage there was 6512 hectares. It is also grown in Hungary, Germany and Canada.
