Prestigious rosé Champagne with depth, refined tension, and a striking gastronomic character.
Krug Winery
Champagne Krug belongs to the absolute top of Champagne and is known worldwide for its uncompromising approach to quality. Since its founding in 1843, everything at Krug has revolved around the individuality of each wine and the maximum expression of terroir. While many houses strive for consistency through a house style, Krug works with extensive tasting sessions and a vast library of reserve wines. Every blend is composed after blind tastings by the tasting committee. The Rosé Edition is, in this regard, one of the most complex rosé Champagnes of the region. You can find more information about this winery in the Winery tab.
Origin and terroir
The Krug Rosé 29ème Édition consists of an assemblage of 29 different wines from five vintages, dating back to 2010. The base is formed by the 2017 vintage, which makes up 67% of the blend. For color and extra texture, 11% still red wine from Aÿ-Champagne and Mutigny is added, derived from Pinot Noir from 2016 and 2017. The combination of different villages, soil types, and reserve wines ensures depth and complexity, while the chalky subsoil of Champagne preserves freshness and precision.
Grapes and vineyard management
As is customary with Krug, everything revolves around selection. Only plots that meet the high quality standards are included in the blend. Pinot Noir plays an important role in structure and character, while Chardonnay adds tension and freshness and Meunier provides roundness. The still red wine from Aÿ and Mutigny gives this rosé extra depth, texture, and a subtle spicy profile.
Vinification and aging
Each component of the blend is vinified separately to maintain maximum precision. Krug traditionally ferments in small oak barrels, which provides extra depth and texture without overpowering wood influence. After blending, the wine ages for years in the bottle in Krug's cellars. During this long sur lie aging, the Champagne develops extra complexity, finesse, and a refined mousse. This prolonged aging contributes significantly to the gastronomic style of Krug Rosé.
Color, smell and taste
In the glass, the wine displays a bright rosé hue with subtle coppery nuances. The aroma opens refined and layered, with notes of grapefruit zest, red currants, and apple pie, complemented by subtle notes of Sichuan pepper and a floral hint of rosewood. On the palate, the Champagne is medium to full-bodied, with a wine-like structure and a deep fruit core. The acidity provides tension and energy, while a light phenolic grip adds extra length. The finish is long, refined, and aromatic.
Style and character
The Rosé 29ème Édition reveals a more gastronomic and layered side of rosé Champagne. This is not a light aperitif style, but a Champagne with texture, depth, and tension. The combination of freshness, red fruit, and subtle spiciness makes it particularly versatile. Refined, precise, and built for further development.
Volume
Because Krug works with a multi-vintage assemblage, this edition is not tied to a single vintage. The 2017 base provides freshness and energy, while reserve wines from 2010 add extra depth and complexity. Thanks to this approach, Krug maintains consistency, while each Edition also acquires its own character. This 29th Edition is drinkable now and has the potential to develop further until approximately 2035.
Food and wine pairings
This rosé Champagne is particularly versatile at the table. It pairs excellently with lobster, tuna, veal, or dishes with Asian spices. The wine also works well with poultry, mushrooms, or truffle dishes. Thanks to its structure and tension, this Champagne can effortlessly accompany even light meat dishes.

Krug’s NV Rosé 29ème Édition blends 29 wines from five harvests dating back to 2010, and like the Grande Cuvée, each component is selected by Krug’s tasting committee through blind tastings. Anchored by the 2017 vintage, which comprises 67% of the assemblage, it gains its color, texture and character from the addition of 11% still red wine from Aÿ-Champagne and Mutigny, sourced from the 2016 and 2017 vintages. The wine opens with aromas evocative of grapefruit zest, redcurrant and apple pie, intricately mingled with a subtle trace of Sichuan pepper and a whisper of rosewood oil. On the palate, it presents as medium- to full-bodied, vinous and textural—albeit slightly less chiseled than its white counterpart. A deep core of fruit, tangy acidity and a long, perfumed finish with a delicate phenolic grip complete this new release.

Krug is a floating and prestigious champagne based in the Champagne region of France. The "House of Krug", often simply referred to as Krug, is renowned for producing some of the world's finest and most luxurious Champagnes.
History of Krug
Krug was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary German immigrant who sought to create the most widely distributed champagne possible. He strongly believed in the producer of Champagne of consistent quality, proven by the weather conditions from year to year. The Krug family carried on the legacy and passed on their expertise from generation to generation. Krug has been in the family for years. It was managed by members of the Krug family until the 1960s and today it is part of the LVMH group but remains active with an emphasis on tradition and quality. They adhere to a philosophy of creating Champagnes that are based on the character of each specific vintage and that express the terroir of the vineyards. They are also known for their blending expertise, often incorporating a range of reserve wines into their cuvées to maintain a consistent house style.
Champagnes from Krug
Krug shows a great range of Champagnes, the most famous of which is their "Krug Grande Cuvée". Considered their flagship Champagne, this non-vintage blend is made with a blend of over 120 different wines from multiple vintages. Krug also has vintage Champagnes, including their famous "Krug Vintage". In addition to their famous cuvées, Krug also produces numerous single-vineyard Champagnes. "Krug Clos du Mesnil" and "Krug Clos d'Ambonnay" are made from grapes sourced from specific walled vineyards and are very popular among collectors and connoisseurs. Krug champagnes are known for their aging potential. This producer recommends aging their Champagnes so that the complex flavors and aromas can fully develop. Some connoisseurs enjoy Krug Champagnes after decades of cellaring.
