Description
Egly-Ouriet is a family-owned Champagne house with a history dating back to 1930. The estate was founded by Francis Egly in Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims region of Champagne, France. Ambonnay is best known for its high-quality Pinot Noirs and this grape variety has played a major role in the identity of Egly-Ouriet Champagnes. Francis Egly founded the estate with a commitment to producing exceptional wines that would showcase the unique terroir of Ambonnay. Over the years, the estate expanded its holdings with vineyards in other prestigious Grand Cru villages such as Verzenay, Bouzy and Aÿ. These villages are known for their favorable viticultural conditions, which contribute to the production of high-quality grapes. The torch was passed to Francis' son, Gaston Egly, and later to Michel Egly, the grandson of the founder. Michel has continued the family's dedication to crafting artisanal champagnes that express the character of the terroir. Under Michel's leadership, Egly-Ouriet has gained recognition as one of the finest producers in Champagne.
One of Egly-Ouriet’s distinguishing features is its dedication to traditional winemaking methods. Egly-Ouriet is celebrated for its dedication to producing wines that reflect the individuality of each vintage and vineyard plot. The house is known for its non-interventionist approach, allowing the grapes and terroir to speak for themselves in the final wines. The Egly-Ouriet Extra Brut Rosé Grand Cru is an exceptional champagne from the renowned house of Egly-Ouriet, located in the Grand Cru region of Ambonnay. This rosé combines power with finesse, a result of the focus on terroir and minimal interventions during the production process. Made from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with a small addition of the still red wine Coteaux Champenois, the wine has intense and lively flavours.
The champagne has a delicate dosage of only 2 grams per liter, which brings out the purity and minerality of the wine. It is matured on the lees for at least 48 months, which gives a full body, freshness, and depth to the wine. The nose contains notes of stone fruit, strawberry, and mineral accents, while the taste offers refined red berries, white peach and a mineral touch
