Description
In the Franciacorta area, between Brescia and Bergamo, at Lake Iseo, this traditional sparkling wine is made. The mountains and the lake have a favourable influence on the wine. The soil and the same grape varieties as in champagne ensure that this wine has become a formidable competitor to the well-known champagnes. Maturing in the bottle takes place for 25 to 37 months, which results in a very elegant, internationally appreciated wine. It is a blend of young and reserve wines. Nicely dry and fruity, fresh, berry, elegant wine with a fine persistent perlage.
Ca' del Bosco is owned by Maurizio Zanella, one of the most important producers in the area, if not in Italy. Zanella played a major role in the Italian wine renaissance of the past decades. Zanella's work led to the Franciacorta area obtaining DOCG status in 1995. This status applies only to sparkling wines made according to the metodo tradizionale (the method of making French Champagne). With no less than 30 times the maximum score in the Gambero Rosso, Ca' Del Bosco is one of the most appreciated and successful wineries in Italy.
The company is housed in a spectacular modern building, beautifully situated in the hills and surrounded by 160 hectares of vineyards. Art plays a major role. The most modern techniques are used in the cellars.
