EXCLUSIVE - DELIVERY SPRING 2028.
Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2025 is one of the absolute highlights of the vintage in Pessac-Léognan. The wine combines impressive precision with exceptional aromatic expression, where power and refinement coexist effortlessly. With its low yields, refined tannins, and remarkable freshness, this vintage demonstrates why La Mission Haut-Brion is among the most respected names in Bordeaux.
One of the most impressive La Mission Haut-Brion of recent years
The 2025 was harvested between late August and mid-September with a modest yield of approximately 23 hl/ha. The blend consists of 58.3% Merlot, 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3.4% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol content remained limited to 13.6%, which perfectly complements the fresh and elegant style of the vintage.
Also striking is the lower proportion of new oak barrels. Whereas La Mission Haut-Brion often used a higher percentage of new wood in the past, the château currently opts for more subtlety. This allows the fruit even more room to take center stage and brings out the terroir expression even more clearly.
Floral, layered and exceptionally refined
The aroma is among the most expressive and refined of the vintage. Aromas of black cherries, blueberries, and cassis are supported by violets, rose petals, and subtle spicy nuances. As the wine opens up, notes of blood orange, pomegranate, mint, and a hint of cinnamon follow.
This aromatic precision lends the wine a striking elegance. Despite the concentration, everything remains clearly and purely defined. The floral components provide refinement, while the dark fruit adds depth and complexity.
Powerful structure with remarkable freshness
On the palate, La Mission Haut-Brion 2025 immediately displays its class. The wine possesses a powerful core of fruit, supported by fine-grained tannins and a strikingly fresh acidity that runs like a thread through the wine. The structure is tight and precise, but never austere or harsh.
The combination of ripe fruit, tension, and minerality results in a wine with plenty of energy. Graphite notes and a subtle smokiness add extra depth to the whole, while the tannins give the wine length and aging potential.
A classic La Mission Haut-Brion with great future potential.
The 2025 combines everything connoisseurs seek in great Pessac-Léognan: aromatic refinement, depth, tension, and precision. The wine possesses the concentration and structure for a long aging period in the bottle, but stands out above all for its harmony and purity.
With its floral character, refined tannins, and impressive balance, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2025 is undoubtedly one of the most successful wines of the vintage and once again confirms the château's status as one of the icons of Bordeaux.

Parker
RP (97-99) A blend of 58.3% Merlot, 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3.4% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 La Mission Haut-Brion reveals a refined bouquet of smoky cassis, dark berries, spices and lead pencil, framed by a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, it’s built around a multidimensional core of fruit underpinned by fine, velvety tannins, concluding with a long, perfumed and precise finish. Combining depth with energy, it delivers a textural yet controlled expression of power, with a real sense of freshness. The result is a particularly faithful, charming rendition of La Mission, defined by its elegance and overall precision.
The 2025 vintage at Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion formed under constraint rather than excess. Yields stayed low, close to 2024, at around 23 hectoliters per hectare for whites—exceptionally reduced—and 27 hectoliters per hectare for reds. Poor floral initiation defined the season early, especially for Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris, with some parcels carrying little to no fruit. Clean flowering locked in that limited potential, and summer drought further reduced berry size, particularly in Pessac.
Rainfall arrived unevenly. A storm on June 13 dropped some 65 millimeters in a single day, but only over part of the appellation. Other sectors saw little impact. The Médoc received rain later, on July 24, which largely missed Pessac. The totals align on paper, but the timing drove variation in ripening.
Phenolic maturity was high, with IPT exceeding 100, indicating marked concentration. Harvest started early—August 27 at La Mission and September 1 at Haut-Brion—and finished around September 18.
The teams responded with control. They adjusted extraction, avoided excess and worked to retain balance. The wines come through as dense but fresh, structured but not severe. The tannins show restraint and precision. Haut-Brion delivers depth and authority; La Mission leans toward charm. Both capture the vintage’s brightness and fruit definition, with more clarity than 2022.

Vinous
(97-99) The 2025 La Mission Haut-Brion is one of my early favorites in this vintage. Aromatic and vibrant, with striking purity, the Grand Vin is magnificent. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and cinnamon soar from the glass. Beams of supporting tannin lend energy and shape. In a word: compelling. One of the wines of the vintage. Drinking Window: 2035 - 2075.

(94-96) The 2025 La Mission Haut-Brion was picked from August 28 until September 19 at around 23 hl/ha, lower than Haut-Brion, perhaps due to higher density of planting and less competition between vines. There is less new oak, at around 59%, the same as Haut-Brion, down from around 80% in recent years. This has a perfumed bouquet, one of the most floral that I can recall, beautifully defined with black cherries, blueberry and crushed violet scents. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled tannins, a silver thread of acidity, quite linear in style with a strict, tensile, graphite-tinged finish. Yeah, it has to play second fiddle to Haut-Brion this year, but it is still a great La Mission. 13.6% alcohol. Drinking Window: 2035 - 2065.
