Laura Catena –daughter of the renowned wine pioneer Nicolas Catena– established the La Posta series of wines to give the smaller winemakers of Mendoza their own platform, rather than an anonymous spot in the local cooperative. The wines are named La Posta, after the typical local roadside pub found everywhere here.

Mr. Angel Paulucci originally came from Italy to Mendoza looking for a job as a car mechanic. After purchasing hectares of land at a very low price, a family friend convinced him to plant a vineyard and grow Malbec. He did so in 1972, and today, the Angel Paulucci vineyard continues to produce, among other things, Malbec from old vines. The vineyards, located in Ugarteche – Luján de Cuyo, consist of alluvial loam with 30% clay, which lowers the average root temperature and helps retain water. During the vinification process, 50% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, of which 15% are new barrels and 15% are second and third used barrels. The remaining 70% ages in stainless steel tanks. This results in an elegant and easy-drinking wine.

The La Posta Paulucci Malbec Angel Paulucci Vineyard is a delicious, pure, and elegant Malbec; the fruit bursts out of the glass—plums and cherries, raspberries, delicate vanilla and spices. On the palate, it is beautifully smooth and peppery, with spices, vanilla and toast, caramel and coffee, and a nice, firm body. A powerful red wine. Lovely with lentils with pancetta, spiced sausages, and aged farmhouse cheeses.
